Tech Talks: Generative AI and LLMs

On the last day of June 1st, we held another edition of Novatics Tech Talks, and the theme this time was: Generative AI and LLMs (Large Language Models). It was an enriching moment where we had the opportunity to share knowledge and have a chat with our local community.
The first talk was about Pair Programming with AI. Gabriel Espírito Santo shared his experience working in pairs with ChatGPT and Github Copilot for programming, code reviewing, and refactoring, as well as using the AIs to improve understanding of syntax and structures in languages and frameworks such as Rails and React. Gabs compiled all the details and tips from this experience in a blog post available in English and Portuguese.
In the second talk, Éfrem Maranhão Filho addressed an interesting use case of text classification using LLMs (Language Models). He presented how he used n8n to build a workflow integrated with the OpenAI API, allowing the classification of user comments into three categories: positive, negative, or neutral. An interesting point he shared was the relative ease of achieving good results in classification using only around 500 user comments for fine-tuning OpenAI models through their API.

We believe that the knowledge gained through our international contacts should be reinvested in the local community, strengthening software engineering and encouraging the creation of excellent technological solutions.
